To trek the endangered mountain gorillas and city tour of Kampala’s most thrilling locations. Kampala city is erected on 7 undulating hills located in the Lake Victoria basin. It is the capital of Uganda and metropolitan area but also with a rich historical back story. Kampala city is the ultimate entertainment hub not short of colorful festivals and concerts that go into the wee hours of the night. The atmosphere is both inviting and fun with an array of fabulous places to visit including top notch restaurants and eat outs.
The tour continues to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park a UNESCO World Heritage Site that borders the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda in the Southwestern region. The park hosts half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas which is the fun favorite although other wildlife such as 345 bird species, 221 butterflies and 120 animals are sure to catch your eye.

Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport or Pickup from Kampala. Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park/4 Days Gorilla trekking and Kampala City
Your day will start with a delicious breakfast at the hotel from where you will be picked by our tour guide from Early Trails Expedition to start your 4 day gorilla trekking, Kampala tour adventure. The tour guide will drive southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park an 8 hour drive. On the way, your tour guide will be briefing you about what to expect on the safari as you enjoy the scenic views of the countryside. You will have a stopover at Kayabwe at the Equator crossing to take photographs and participate in a water experiment. Continue with the journey having lunch in Mbarara town and proceeding to arrive in Bwindi. Arrive late in the evening, then check into the lodge and have dinner after which you will rest.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Cultural encounter.
After an early morning breakfast at 6:00am, with your packed lunch in hand, will be picked by your tour guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing. The briefing will be about the do’s and don’ts of gorilla trekking among other things. You will then be assigned a guide, a park ranger and a gorilla family to trek. You will then venture into the thick misty forest together with your team to trek gorillas. Trekking will start from where the gorillas were last seen and it can up to 8 hours to find them.
The trek offers more than just gorillas, as you will spot numerous wildlife including countless primates such as vervet monkeys, blue and white colobus monkeys, stunning bird species, an array of colorful butterflies with a plant population that will blow your mind. After finding the gorillas, you will have an hour with them observing how they forage and interact with their surroundings. Get ready to create everlasting memories with your camera as you enjoy the gentle giants. You will then head back to the park where you will be awarded a certificate for successfully trekking gorillas. Your guide will then drive you back to the lodge.
Depending on your energy, there is the option of visiting the Batwa community who are the original inhabitants of the forest. The Batwa pygmies lived off the forest, gathering fruits and hunting animals to survive. But after the forest was gazetted, the Batwa were left outside the home they knew into a strange world that was not so kind. You will have the opportunity how they have struggled to survive and their traditional way of life.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala.
Following a rejuvenating morning breakfast, you will check out and together with your guide enjoy a ride back to Kampala city with lunch en-route. On arrival, you will check into the hotel but since you will be arrive in the evening you may have the choice of exploring the exciting Kampala night life. Kampala boasts of amazing casinos, clubs, restaurants and with always numerous events happening, there is a lot to choose from. You may also choose to retire for the night after dinner.
Day 4: Kampala city tour. End of Safari.
The day will start with a nice morning breakfast from your hotel, then you will be picked by your tour guide to begin the Kampala city tour. You will visit historical places such as the Kabaka’s Palace in Mengo, Kasubi Tombs where the Kings of Buganda are buried and Uganda Museum. Also visit spiritual places such as the Namugongo martyrs shrine where Christian converts were brutally killed and burnt to ashes, the Bahai temple the biggest headquarters of the faith in Africa and Gadaffi mosque which was built to reflect all the three major religions in the country. Enjoy strolling market places and taste the famous street Rolex a combination of eggs, vegetables wrapped in dough. Your driver will then take you back to the hotel or to the airport. End of safari.
